About me
In 2004 I took an orientation class at the Rietveld academy in Amsterdam.
Within this year I discovered that photography still was the ultimate tool to express myself
and during my time at the Rietveld nothing could compare with the swift impact and the thrill of a capture.
I decided to do a proper and technical two year photography training at the 'Fotovakschool' in Apeldoorn.
During these years my view on photography and imaging changed drastically.
There was the revelation of portrait photography. Now, a few years later, I simply can not understand
how I found satisfaction in photography before I discovered portrait photography.
True, I still love to snap 'bits and peaces', 'sticks and stones', but with portrait, used in fashion, art or
commercial photography I found my ultimate 'click'.
I love to work with people. Really 'work' with them. To make them grow inside themselves, to make them shine or
bring out elements from their darkest depths. This process fascinates me more then taking 'pretty pictures'
and it is here that I learned to let go of 'form' and turn photography into a tool that brings out peoples souls.
Soulscapes.
I find that with every shoot I do, my ability to 'switch people on' grows and every time I'm thinking of new ways,
new elements, new angles to make them reach out through my portraits.
